2013 New York Marathon

Marathons have had a rough go over the last year. With Superstorm Sandy shutting down the 2012 New York Marathon and the terrorist bombing marring the 2013 Boston race, the New York Road Runners (organizers of the 2013 ING New York City Marathon) just wanted to focus on the positives this time.

Since all runners were already registered for the event, our task at BBDO was to turn out the spectators en masse – reminding viewers that a marathon can't happen without them.

We had planned to take the idea of "you make it a marathon" further by extending into the digital sphere, but due to budget cuts these were scrapped. Here's the overall idea:









Not bad for an intern's first project. Even Jennifer Lawrence took note.
